The Beginning

Wakeylele was originally formed  by 'graduates'of a U3A beginners course which started in early 2019.

Additional members, from other local groups, boosted numbers and the present band began performing in September that year.

Membership is steadily rising and the name "Wakeylele was adopted in December 2019.

Public Performances

Wakeylelele has already performed publicly and aims to participate in future events alongside other, more established groups.

Songs we Sing

At present our song  catalogue is still in the development phase. There is a nucleus of a dozen or so songs; sufficient to form the basis of upcoming performances.

New Material is introduced weekly with frequent reviews to ensure the catalogue doesn't become overloaded

Our Aims

The ethos of learning together is very strong . Members are actively encouraged to participate in all spheres of decision making within the group.

Some members play regularly in local "senior bands" gaining further musical knowledge and enhancing their skill levels.

Our fundamental aim is to make music through a continuing sense of professionalism and ENJOYMENT
